Bananas
My body is still trying to readjust for school. Instead of waking up at 7 a.m. with nothing to do, I’m trying to pry my eyes open at 5:30 a.m. It’s the time that I usually woke up at during my freshman year at East Bay.
I usually have my Bible devotion in the morning. Study times vary, though. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I study in the afternoon because I have morning classes. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I study in the morning because I have afternoon classes. This is the type of schedule that I wasn’t planning to get because I wanted to study around the same time every day. I guess my mind will just have to be malleable enough to handle morning and afternoon sessions again.
Breakfast is something that I usually have, too. Unfortunately, I didn’t. Studying put me a little off. RIght when I told my dad I was going to leave and opened the garage door, my stomach growled to remind me. I knew that it was going to be a battle for parking and I needed all the time I could get. I opened the pantry to see what I could find. There were no potato chips. There was no bread for a sandwich. The fridge was just as bare, except there was something. A bright red box screamed to be opened.
It was cake.
I didn’t want to succumb to sweetness, so I dashed to the bananas. Yeah, I went bananas. I had three of thos things, but realized that it wasn’t going to be enough to get me through economics, let alone all the way through Filipino. I unsheated a fork and beasted on the cake. After that, I sped to my car. I could feel the simple carbohydrates already being burned.
I ended up being late, though. The war for parking spaces got pretty ugly. Every aisle was plugged with assaults of passing traffic. Drivers scoured the land to and fro. The concrete was black with the screech of rubber.
By the end of the day, not surprisingly, I was tired. The energy of the chocolate cake was subsiding, but the finish of my classes felt good beneath the setting sun.
Now that I am home, my desktop is up and working. YEAAAAAH, BOYYYYYYY! I don’t have to squint on this laptop anymore.
See you on the desktop.
