Countdown to Fall

2008 September 21

Today, being the Lord’s day, my family and I headed to San Leandro for the FBC Tri-City morning service. Cassie called me at 8 a.m. and I invited her to come along.

Don’t worry. I didn’t go like this to church. The Lord deserves better than that.

I had to make a couple trips back and forth. You can imagine how frustrating and annoying things become when you have to change your destination a couple times. That’s just the enemy trying to get your spirits down, though. When briefcases are forgotten or the praise and worship songs are on a memory stick which you left on your desk, what can you do? Just go back and get them. Don’t let the evil one steal away the Lord’s day.

Pastor Alois is back behind the pulpit after a few weeks of finishing his Masters in Bible Counseling. He shared his coursework and praised God that he graduated magna cum laude. A pretty amazing feat. What amazed me more was that even though he was being buried in books, he still had time to prepare a message. Actually, a series of messages. Today, he initiated a topical series about same-sex marriage and God’s word against it. There are 15 topics which, I think, are a lot. The Lord really led him through this one.

Cassie and I headed to Thrift Town afterward. It was the first time that she went to the big one in San Leandro. And it was nearby so it wasn’t a hassle. She wanted me to accompany her everywhere, including the women’s section. I understood why, though. The eyes of a few of the men there, she felt, were a little too piercing. I couldn’t let my baby face it alone.

When I got home, I took a nap. I don’t usually do it, but the couch was just too inviting. I situated myself on the brown leather furniture and dozed off, mouth open and saliva dripping and all. It was good.

Currently, I’m blogging from her laptop and trying to help her with some homework. Algebra can be a menacing foe at times. I can’t let her face it alone, either.

I just noticed that it was a similar pose to a guy on Niketalk. His SN is “solistik.” I feel bad now. :(
